#4/100 - The best treadmill workout, ever.

I am currently following a lower mileage training plan for my Spring marathon in April. It deals with quality over quantity and is great for those who have specific goals but want to avoid injury. Basically you are given three workouts a week. A track workout, a tempo run and a long run. They all have very specific pace requirements based on your time goal for your future race. It also calls for about 45-60 minutes of cross training a week.

Finding ways to cross train were harder for me. A lot of my Spring marathon training will be indoors this winter due to possible torrential snow. I wanted to find something that wasn't too far off of what I'm used to already and could do with the equipment I already have at home. Besides yoga, which I do enjoy but have little patience for, the only other piece of (fairly expensive) equipment I own is a treadmill.

After trying several walking/incline workouts I found online, I constructed myself the most beautiful 20-40 minute walking/incline treadmill workout ever. You can do the workout in 10 minute increments if you're having a busy day, or all the way through for the full 40 minutes. If you didn't think walking indoors on a treadmill would allow you to break a sweat, prepare to be amazed.

I created this in a Google Doc that you can view here. I printed out each section and taped them to the top of my treadmill and I do this twice to three times a week.

Happy cross-training! See you guys tomorrow!
